Fishplate installation considerations

As wen all know, the rail is one of the main components of the railway, to withstand the pressure from the wheel, the impact force and the longitudinal inertial force, the lateral centrifugal force, etc., and transmit the force to the sleeper, track bed and subgrade, provides the least resistance surface for wheel rolling. The fishplate play a non-negligiable role in the connection weight of the rail. Let’s take a look at the precautions when installing the fishplate.

1.      When attaching the bolt, pay attention to make the spring washer open downward.

2.      The order of the bolt, such as the four-hole fishplate, first tighten the middle two, then the upper two sides, the two sides are tightened, and then the middle is tightened once.

3.      When tightening the bolt, use a 55cm screw wrench for one person, do not use a too long screw wrench ot two people.

4.      When the bolts are not put on, use the hammer to hit ends of the fishplate and align the eyes, do not use the hammer to harden the screws.

5.      The fishplate and the rail contact part and the bolt should be oiled.

6.      When the fishplate bolts are wornm the positions of the bolt caps must be staggered inside and out side.
