Reasonable use of old rails

Edit:Zongxiang Heavy Industry--Ethan Date:2021-04-09 15:04:47

Steel rails are important equipment for railway lines. In the "Policy on Main Technical Equipment for Railway Public Works", in addition to clearly pointing out that the development direction of steel rails is heavy-duty, toughening and purifying, there are also clear regulations on the rational use of steel rails. The regulations point out that a reasonable life cycle of reused rails should be determined based on the analysis of the comprehensive economic benefits of rails, a system of phased use of rails should be implemented, and the renovation of old rails should be actively carried out.

Graded use of rails:

1. The graded use of rails has two meanings: the secondary or multiple use of rails and the rational use of rails in a single use. The secondary use of rails means that the rails are refurbished on the old rails after they are operated on busy lines, and then laid on the railways with small traffic volume to re-use it, which can extend the service life of the rails and improve the efficiency of the rails. The repeated use of heavy old rails can significantly strengthen the equipment of the entire non-busy line. The use of heavy-duty rails on lines with low freight density, even old rails, will greatly improve line stability, and can ensure normal maintenance of the tracks with less materials and labor.

2. Old rail refurbishment is usually divided into three categories: comprehensive reshaping rail, general reshaping rail and welding and reusing long rails.

Germany has been conducting research on the relationship between rails and transit volume, maintenance and repair, in order to obtain the best economic benefits. The specific classification is: the new track is laid on the first-level track; when the height of the low track is reduced by 5%, it is replaced on the second-level track; when the track height is reduced by 8%, it is laid on the third-level track. When Germany implements the hierarchical management of rails, it uses reused rails as a resource reserve. When a new track is to be laid on a railway, it should be considered in advance that part of the track will be laid and reused. Because the used heavier rail is equivalent to the lighter new rail.

The high quality, durability and reliability of modern rails provide the possibility of reusing rails. The operation system of rail equipment should be "team ladder". As its carrying capacity decreases, the rails are gradually moved to sections with smaller transportation volumes for use.
