Precautions for dog spikes installation

Edit:Zongxiang Heavy Industry--Ethan Date:2021-05-25 11:03:51

The spikes we are talking about mainly refer to the dog spikes of expressways, also known as raised road signs. This is actually a traffic safety facility, which is mainly installed in the middle of road markings or double yellow lines, and reminds the driver to drive in the lane through its reflective properties.

The specifications of dog spikes are generally 100mm*100mm*20mm, and the maximum height does not exceed 25mm. Road studs are generally installed with epoxy resin.

With the widespread application of dog spikes in domestic high-grade highways and municipal roads, the quality and service life of dog spikes have received more and more attention

However, in the actual application process, spike damage and shortened service life often occur due to installation problems. The following are common problems in the installation process of dog spikes:

1.     Install on the marking line. The marking line is also a kind of resin material, which is also attached to the ground and has limited connection with the ground. If the spike is installed on the marking line, the impact force of the spike will be completely transmitted to the marking line, so that the spike is easily knocked off and the marking line will be jammed.

2.     The spikes are installed unevenly. The direct consequence of this situation is that the stress of the road stud is uneven, and the stress of the road stud is almost concentrated in the convex and concave parts. In the case of large-tonnage vehicles, spikes are easy to break.

3.     The location of the dog spike is not clean. The firmness of road studs depends on the close combination of road studs, glue and the ground. If the installation location is not clean, the dust inside will absorb most of the adhesive force of the glue, resulting in unstable adhesion of the long nails and easy to fall off when impacted by external forces.

4.     The amount of glue is insufficient or excessive. Insufficient dosage will reduce the firmness of the nail and shorten its service life; excessive glue will seep out from around the pointed nail, it is easy to rub on the reflective sheet of the pointed nail, and affect its reflective brightness.

5.     The glue is applied unevenly. When installing the road studs, not only apply the glue, but also apply it evenly to ensure that all parts of the road stud are evenly stressed and avoid squeezing caused by uneven forces.
