How to evaluate the quality of rail grinding?

Edit:Zongxiang Heavy Industry--Ethan Date:2021-07-15 14:10:00

The rail grinding quality evaluation standard is the basis for measuring the quality of grinding operation, optimizing grinding operation and developing grinding technology. It directly affects the stability of train operation and the planning of the grinding cycle.

For the longitudinal band of the rail surface after grinding, it is stipulated that when the wavelength is less than 1m, the peak height difference should not exceed 0.01 mm, when the wavelength is greater than 1m, the peak height difference should be less than 0.1 mm, and the measurement data has a 95% confidence interval. The quality of grinding operations can be assessed as qualified.

In addition, the railway operating company uses the target profile proposed by it as the evaluation basis for measuring the rail grinding profile. For example, the German Railway Operating Company stipulates that the 60E2 rail profile is the target profile after the rail is ground, and on this basis, it is allowed to float by 0.02 mm.

Surface roughness is also an important parameter to measure the quality of rail grinding. If the surface of the rail is too rough, it will increase the friction between the wheel and the rail, increase the lateral force on the whole vehicle, increase the rollover coefficient, and increase the potential safety hazard. If the rail surface is too smooth, it will inevitably increase the line maintenance cost. When the rail surface roughness reaches a certain value, it will not help to improve the wheel-rail relationship. Generally, multiple sampling points are taken along the longitudinal direction of the track. The sampling distance for ordinary railways is 200 ? 500m, and the sampling distance for high-speed railways is shortened to 50m. The surface roughness of 90% of the measuring points is required to be less than 10?m.

The width of the rail grinding surface is another important parameter to measure the quality of the rail grinding surface. It is the surface width after the grinding tool interferes with the guide rail.
